Assessment integrity

When you create or edit an assignment, you can adjust the Assessment integrity options under More options. These settings help students stay focused during the activity.

Copy and paste

  • Off (default): Students cannot paste into text chat or static text answers.
  • On: Students can paste as usual.

Leaving the browser tab

You choose what happens when a student moves away from the assignment (for example, to another tab or window):

  • Allow — Students are not warned or blocked.
  • Warn — When they come back, they see a short reminder to stay on the assignment.
  • Block after several leaves — You set how many times they may leave before their access to the activity is suspended. After that, they cannot continue until you restore access.

When a student's access is suspended

In order to restore access, the student has to contact the teacher for restoring the access.

Restoring access

  1. Open the assignment and go to Submissions.
  2. Open that student’s submission.
  3. If access was suspended for integrity reasons, you will see a notice. Choose Restore student access.

After you restore access, the student can continue the activity. Their tab-leave count for that attempt starts fresh so a single mistake does not keep them locked out.
